How To Get ENCOR Keys to Finalize ISS45+ABO Pre-Buy Installs

With ENCOR now in general release, customers are looking to replace the temporary ISS45+ABO Pre-Buy deployments with "true" ENCOR.  There is no charge to upgrade the initial ISS45 HASP key to enable ENCOR, but an e-mail key upgrade is needed.  Here's how to get this done.  The details have been added to the ENCOR Pre-Buy bulletin - just click for it, or find it later on the Updates/Announcements Page (or the ENCOR All-In-One Page).

Important - ENCOR Installation Update

The ENCOR WIN_MTX and WIN_US install folders have been updated.  As per the updated Installation and Setup guides, download and use those new installs installs from the FTP, not from the original ISOs.  See the new installation guides below.

Arkansas eWIC Account Number Truncation - Technical Bulletin

This technical bulletin provides a work-around to the continued truncation of Arkansas eWIC HCL (Hot Card List) account numbers.  The recent 8181-110 patch release fixes this problem, but any files that had been incorrectly processed BEFORE the fix need some hand-holding to reprocess correctly. Software for Salvaged SSCO/FastLane Hardware

Channel Partners are advised that the required license items and prices for FastLane / SSCO software is very different than when the software licenses are purchased simultaneously with new SSCO hardware.  Please see the bulletin and ensure that your customers are aware of the terms and conditions before they invest in used hardware.

Lane Osbon

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Lane Osbon, a great partner and even greater friend.  Lane built up Total Retail Solutions from a long Baton Rouge heritage including the former Superior Systems, and successfully overcame fierce competition, recessions - and Hurricane Katrina - to further strengthen TRS' business.  Focused always on serving his customers, Lane expanded the base and built a strong and expert staff, but somehow also always found time to talk, provide insight, or share a good story (and a Bud Light) at Centurion or the Business Council.

Our hearts and prayers go out to his wife Lynn, his family and the TRS staff.  We will miss him greatly.

PC/Server Platform Configurations - Updated and Corrected

This update corrects a configuration error on three of the PC-class machines which called out the wrong storage capacity.  We apologize for the mistake.

New LaneHawk 3.0.14 - Certified and Available

The new LaneHawk BOS 3.0.14 has been certified over the updated Ubuntu Linux 14.04 version.  Use these two together - don't intermix with older releases of either the LaneHawk BOS or Linux. As from September, the  installation and the email licensing instructions are included, so get the new versions via FTP - but make sure you have a fast connection because the download still weighs in at a GB+. ISS45 8170 End-of-Support

Support for ISS45 8170 has been provided since 2013, but the support "grace period" - since the 8181 release in Janary - has now run its course.  Support remains available for the 8180 series as well as for 8181.  See the Technical Bulletin.

New .EXE Distribution for HASP Update Files

New email filters are increasingly blocking receipt of .exe files, whether wrapped in .ZIPs, renamed with new extensions (or both).  NCR is now distributing the necessary HASP update executables for ISS45 , ScanMaster or ENCOR via download (or you can use versions you have on-hand from recent updates).  See the Technical Bulletin.

NCR XR7 Pricing and Configuration

The compact and great-looking XR7 has been responsible for more and more all-in-one terminals being chosen in the traditionally modular grocery environment.  Here's the new hardware Pricing and Configuration guide for the RealPOS XR7 has been updated with the new Windows 10 IoT operating system versions, which replaced the original Win10-IoT releases.  Numerous other updates and changes (including some reduced prices) have been provided.

NCR Billing Error - Q3 SMS/td>

NCR has billed several Channel Partners the wrong amounts for their ISS45, ScanMaster etc. Software Maintenance and Support (SMS).  The incorrect invoices erroneously duplicated the previous Q2 (June) invoices instead of the Q3 amounts.  NCR will issue 100% credits for the affected invoices and replace them with corrected invoices.  Under separate cover, Channel Partners will shortly receive the usual Summary Report and Installed Base Report: These reports show the correct amounts.  "SWM" billings for ACS-IR, ABO etc. were not affected.  NCR regrets the error - please accept our apologies for any confusion.

ISS45 8181-100

With 90 fixes and new features, this is a very important ISS45 release, including taxability control for Loyalty Promotions.  So it's great to say that It's now entirely available and ready for your clicks on the ISS45 Maintenance Page.

Price Changes for Connected Payments

For the first time in three years, the base prices for most Connected Payments subscriptions will be slightly increased.  The change is effective August 1, 2017.  See the Update for details and notification information. 

New Generation of PCs and Servers for Channel Partners

The new generation of PCs and Servers has finally arrived.  The CPUs are more powerful, SDDs are standard on almost all units, there's more RAM.  The operating systems are current Windows 10 and Microsoft Server 2016, but the boxes are available for shipment with downgraded Windows 7 and Server 2012 R2 loads for software compatibility.  See the venerable (Issue 57) bulletin for the complete story.  PLEASE NOTE: When you stage, you may need to reload the O/S from the supplied backup/restore media.  Our vendor is working to isolate the missing or incompatible component in the pre-loaded image.

John Bellamy - A True Legend's Last Day

He is: The Most Capable Man in the World (his business card simply says "I'll Call You"...)  After 35 terrific years, it's hard to imagine this business without him, but John Bellamy is leaving March 30.  Whether DTS, Datachecker, ICL, Fujitsu, Retalix, StoreNext or NCR, management types might put "customer service" on the job description, but it's always John who shows what it means.  Through countless crises, he has always come through to get a vendor to commit, make a withdrawn item available again, force an order through even with Oracle down, get the shipment out, or get the package there on time (and if necessary, get it all credited...)  "He can start a fire using only dental floss and water."  Please join me in wishing John a great next chapter: we will all miss you (boy, will we)!

Bob Allnock

   We have received the very sad news of Robert Allnock's unexpected  death.  One of our industry's true iconic leaders, Bob founded Retail Control Systems near Pittsburgh in the early '70s, building it into a regional powerhouse.  Allnock's RCS was pivotal to the success of DTS, then a start-up, with the first electronic POS systems for independent merchants that could truly be supported by resellers.  Bob then went much further, building a team to create the ScanMaster system.  With its first installations in 1989, ScanMaster became a sweeping success, eventually sold by NCR and StoreNext to several thousand independent grocers. 

   But Bob's decades of leadership in the Dealer community came from his character, not just his many achievements.  No matter what the stakes, a handshake from Bob was his bond.  He was a terrific guy.

   Our heartfelt condolences go to his son Ron and the extended Allnock family.

Improved and Updated SMS Adjustment Request for 2017

The Adjustment Request now enables one-stop shopping for changes to ACS and ABO as well as the other Channel Partner products.  It's been updated for 2017 changes, so you'll want to use this new one.  

Improved! NCR Channel Partner Standard Order Form for 2017

NCR provides this automated order form to make it easy for Channel Partners to get their P.O.s through.  It includes drop-down selections for the additional data necessary and catches errors that would slow down your order.  Click for the current version - it's also always available from the Home Page Menu (under "Information and Documents" at the lower left).  And as a real bonus, this new version will allow a 2017 order...

Enhanced SKIFs for ISS45 and ScanMaster for 2017

The Excel Software Key Information Forms have been enhanced and these new releases should be the ones you use going forward.  These SKIFs are stored forever (or until they're updated again) on the SKIF Page.

NCR Order Processing Recess Ending Monday January 16

NCR expects to end the annual order processing recess and restart processing by Monday, January 16.  During the recess, orders are not processed, invoiced or shipped.  New orders have been held, and will be processed when operations re-open.

NCR will start its annual recess for order processing after December 28 this year.  During the recess, orders are not processed, invoiced or shipped.  New orders are held until operations re-open the third week of January, so Channel Partners needing products before the end of January are strongly encouraged to place all orders as soon as possible.

ISS45 8181-050 Shipped!  ISS45 8181-060 Update Released

The important ISS45 8181-050 release has completed live testing and has been shipped via FedEx to Channel Partners in good SMS standing.  Full documentation is available on the Manuals page.  The 8181-060 update (with changes since 8181-050 Controlled Deployment) is also now available from the ISS45 Maintenance Page.  Click for a look at ISS45's many, many new features and changes.
