ISS45 V8 Leap Year End-of-Month Setting

"With great flexibility comes great responsibility."  ISS45 V8 parameters enable users full control over their preferred end-of-month accounting dates, but every four years customers that normally use February 28 will prefer their leap-year February EOM date reset to February 29.  And then in March, back again to the 28th so no one forgets.  Here's a quick technical bulletin with the advice and easy method.

Support Sunset for ISS45 8160

With the September release of ISS45 8180 and the usual 90-day grace period completed, support for ISS45 8160 is withdrawn.  For inquiries, assistance, faults, incidents, fixes and enhancements NCR supports the up-level releases of ISS45 8180 (current) and 8170 (one major release back).  See the Technical Bulletin for details, or remind yourself later with a trip to the Technical Bulletins Page.

Datalogic Scanner/Scale Pricing and Configuration

EMV Chip Card Progress: Visa's November Snapshot

According to Visa statistics for the U.S., 180.6 million Visa Chip Cards have now been issued, a 531% increase from 2014.  70% of consumers use at least one chip card, and 592,000 stores are now chip enabled - almost 50% more than September.  Chip card transactions increased by 42 percent in October to $8.9 billion, from $4.8 billion in September.

ISS45 8160 End of Support

Advisory: ISS45 8180 was released at the end of September.  NCR's ISS45 policy provides support for the current and previous release, with a 90-day support cutover for the older release replaced.  This 90-day "grace period" for 8160 releases will end December 31, after which support will be available only for 8170 and 8180 releases.

SSCO Cash Management Controls with ISS45 and ScanMaster

To control the removal of cash from the SSCO units, ScanMaster provides authorization parameters and facilities.  SSCO cash access can also be controlled by ISS45, though with less flexibility.  See the new technical bulletin for the controls and instructions on how to use them.

Printing Delay with VeriFone PIN Pads

After the PIN pad displays “Approved,” some users may have experienced a
5 – 10 second delay before the receipt begins to print.  This has been reported with ScanMaster, ACS and ISS45 POS systems, but the common factor is the VeriFone MX915/MX925 payment terminals.  See the new technical bulletin for what to do about this.

ACS 7.0 Upgrade Program - Advisory

ScanMaster 2.9.0-120 Release

Apple Pay Fraud - Important Article and Liability Information

This article from today's New York Times uncovers why credit card fraud over Apple Pay has been running at 60 times the usual rate - despite the excellent and secure technology.  Although the financial industry is addressing some of the causes, this is another compelling reason why merchants NEED to get onto EMV to escape taking on liability for processes outside their control.

At Last - Free SQL for ISS45!

The new ISS45 8170-170 release supports Microsoft SQL Express Edition, which has no fees for the SQL license or CALs.  This can knock hundreds of dollars off your implementation cost.  This release will be available on March 16/17, and you'll get a new DVD-ROM with the Certified version of the SQL Express.  Want to cancel all those SQL Workgroup orders in house?  We probably beat you to it - click below for the Announcement that explains all (and it'll be there for you also on the Announcements and Updates Page). 

Update - EMV with WinEPS?  (no...)

This update to the August 2013 WinEPS Withdrawal Announcement is a reminder that you can use with those last WinEPS holdouts.  WinEPS will NOT support EMV.  That October 1 deadline on the EMV mandate is fast approaching, and your customers really don't want all that fraud liability.  Those Connnected Payments upgrades are way past due.  Just click below, and it's there for you also on the Announcements and Updates page.

This latest version now includes the recently certified RealPOS XR7 products, plus a huge number of additional products and options.  Compatibility and certification information (for ISS45, ScanMaster and ACS) has also been added to the listings, and the configuration information has been expanded in many cases. 

(Note: putting all the NCR POS product families together makes this a very long document - as useful as it may be to have everything in one place, new Pricing and Configuration documents (for operating systems, specific product families and so forth) are in process that will make navigation a little easier.)

WMicrosoft has acknowledged the font problem caused by the recent Windows Server update and has issued a new update with a fix to the fix.  So what should you do?  You should keep the first update but also add the second one.  Why and how does that work?  We do updates too: see the updated Technical Bulletin.

ScanMaster Fonts Broken by Recent Windows Server Update

What the Font?  It's happened again.  A recent Microsoft Server 2003/2008 O/S update from Wednesday, February 11 broke the standard Arial fonts in some ScanMaster screens, which makes some of the reports really ugly (at best) or just about unreadable (at worst).  Here's how to fix the situation - see Dave Bowser's Technical Bulletin or go to the Tech Bulletin Page and see them all.

IBM/Toshiba Withdraws SurePOS 300 E4A - New Price Bulletin
