U-Scan Attendant Station Power Strips

Due to RoHS compliance, the current Power Strips in the U-Scan Attendant Station are no longer available.  There are two versions of the Power Strip in current use, they are both replaced by using two (2) each of the new Power Strip.  See the Hardware Bulletin.

U-Scan NextGen Chassis Fan Replacements

Many of chassis fans used in U-Scan (Next Gen) are no longer available from the original supplier. This bulletin lists the approved replacement parts. As indicated, some of the parts are not changed, but are included for reference.  See the Hardware Bulletin.

D22/D25 ELO G2 Touch Driver

D22/D25 ELO G2 Touch Driver Bulletin

A new driver has been validated and released for the ELO Touch system used in the D22/D25 Touch Display (Resistive Touch). This new version is a Generation 2 (G2) driver with many enhancements and reliability updates from the previously released version, and fixes several issues reported by dealers.  See the Hardware Bulletin.

U-Scan Genesis Printer Rim Repair / Installation Instructions

There have been a couple of occurrences where the Genesis Printer Rim Plastic Trim piece has come loose soon after installation. Please follow the procedures in the Hardware Bulletin to fix the issue.

Foam Gaskets for U-Scan SBU

There has been some concern regarding sharp edges on the U-Scan SBU (Single Belted Unit). For precautionary reasons, a Foam Gasket Kit has been released that will help prevent anyone using or servicing the unit from any injury. This Kit should be implemented on a Fit-On-Fail or next PM basis.  Note that this Hardware Bulletin also provides the required "Installation Guide for Collection Area Grommets."  See the bulletin (especially for its careful depictions of screwdrivers and cutters).

Coin Jams in Genesis Canisters

There have been many reports of coin jams in the canister configuration of the Genesis U-Scan. The underlying cause was a change to the plastics of the Telequip Canister unit, which then caused interference with and a extra large gap in the Coin Chute design.  To correct this condition there have been 2 changes; 1) The Plastic Chute has been modified, and 2) A new Stainless Steel Coin Chute Adaptor has been designed.  See the technical bulletin.

TeamPoS 2000 M Motherboard BIOS - Update

A new BIOS is being released for the TeamPoS 2000 M motherboard. The reason for the change is because the flash ROM chip that contains the BIOS is no longer available and a new Flash ROM chip requires a BIOS change to function.  This is an updated technical bulletin from its original September version.

Off-Line Stand-In - New Fact Sheet with Financial Data

Off-Line Stand-In Cost and Benefit Calculator

The Store-and-Forward Calculator extends the data in the SAF information sheet by showing all the detailed calculations and assumptions and enabling dealers and their customers to plug in their own data for store-specific customized results.  This Excel Calculator is provided in a "Full" version, and a "Lite" version is also included that streamlines the calculations and parameters to make it easier to understand.  Find it from the Connected Payments All-In-One Page.

Solidcore - Licensing Changes

As of January 1, 2009, Solidcore S3 licenses will no longer be included with new ISS45 or ScanMaster licenses.  Users desiring Solidcore can order the product in the same way as other software systems and options. Please see the Solidcore Product Bulletin (1215) for ordering and pricing information.
ISS45 and ScanMaster systems shipped since December 1, 2006 included licensing rights for Solidcore S3 Embedded at no additional charge. Many customers have not taken advantage of these rights, which will expire at the end of this year. All sites that have not fulfilled a potential Solidcore license (by taking delivery via the software key) will have waived these licenses as of January 1, 2009.  See the full bulletin on the Updates Page..

Connected Payments - Holiday Freeze

StoreNext will be implementing a holiday “freeze” on boarding additional Connected Payments stores until January 5, 2009.  The purpose is to make available all data center resources, capacity and bandwidth to existing subscribers and optimize performance by tuning the data centers to a fixed store count. The freeze enables StoreNext to focus all support personnel on servicing current customers through the holidays. At the same time, this move eases some subscribers’ concerns about flooding the system with additional new stores right before the peak period.  See the full bulletin on the Updates Page..

New BIOS for TeamPoS 3000 XL and XT Terminals

A new BIOS is being released for the TeamPoS 3000 XL and XT terminals for the 11000021 motherboard.  This is a non-mandatory change that will be cut into production upon approval..  On the Hardware Bulletins Page.

U-Scan MoneyFlex Interface Change

If the value of your dollar doesn't already seem "flexible" enought, the MoneyFlex interface box that is used in the LT and NextGen U-Scan is no longer available. A new method of interfacing has been developed that will eliminate the interface box completely.  All NextGen systems shipped after September 26, 2008 have this new interface methodology.  On the Hardware Bulletins Page.

Hard Disk Drives for the TeamPoS 3000

There have been several updates to the Hard Disk Drives released for the TeamPoS 3000XL, XL2 and XT terminals. This bulletin is released for a general information update for service/spares support. U-Scan Genesis Bill Exit Tray Squeaking when Door is Closed

There have been a couple occurrences where a Grinding or Squeaking Noise has occurred on a Genesis unit during the bill dispense cycle when the door is being closed.  On the Hardware Bulletins Page.

CP Report Printing with Windows Update KB956391 – Part 2

The recent Microsoft security update (KB956391) was necessarily installed at the Connected Payments host, and for compatibility reasons it must ALSO be installed on the PCs from which subscribers intend to print.  Here is how it's done, plus a couple of work-arounds if for some reason the update cannot be installed.  See the updated Software Technical Bulletin on the topic.

ISS45 Version 8132 Slow Touch Response with IBM SurePOS

There is an issue with the IBM SurePOS touch screen response time when used with 8132-050. This problem will appear on any IBM terminal (be it a 300, 500 or 700). Here's the work-around.  See that Technical Bulletin.

ISS45 Version 8130 SQL Database Schema

Connected Payments Report Printing with Windows Update KB956391

Microsoft released a security update (KB956391) designed to foil harmful or malicious Active-X controls. But the update breaks Microsoft’s own SQL client print control that's needed to print Connected Payments reports. Fujitsu TeamPoS 3000 Front Panel and Reset Switch

If a tab on the TeamPoS 3000 front panel is broken, the panel will not seat
correctly and could put side pressure on the Reset Switch that extends through the panel, causing intermittent reboots.  This affects the XL and XE models.  This technical bulletin explains what to do about it.  (Spoiler Alert!  Replace the broken part.)  On the Hardware Bulletins Page.

Solidcore Anti-Virus Tested 100% Effective

The results are in from NSS Labs, which tested Solidcore against a battery of more than 15 thousand viruses, worms, trojans and other malware types.  Even better, NSS used ISS45 for the testing.  Solidcore achieved 100% prevention and NSS wrote that Solidcore provided "...equal if not better protection than most traditional antivirus products..."  This is the critical third-party proof that PCI QSAs have been looking for to show that Solidcore can be used to meet the A-V requirements in the PCI DSS.  Get the test report on the Solidcore Page.

Upgrading ISS45 to OpenEPS with Catalina

An adhesive cable clamp is available for the D15 display stand to prevent the cable from coming loose.

TeamPoS 2000 M Motherboard BIOS

A new BIOS is being released for the TeamPoS 2000 M motherboard. The reason for the change is because the flash ROM chip that contains the BIOS is no longer available and a new Flash ROM chip requires a BIOS change to function.

Genesis Coin Hopper Power Switch Accessibility

There have been reports that when Genesis Coin Hoppers are located on right, the Hopper Power Switch cannot be accessed.  This is due to the space limitations within the Genesis SCO unit. To allow the Hoppers to be power cycled, a separate Power Pig-Tail cord is added at the rear of the Hopper Assembly during production.

Telequip Coin Dispensers Giving False Low Coin Indication

Older Telequip units (model: 2+) may report Low Coin status when in fact there is not a Low Coin condition.  This issue is a concern with the new software that is required to meet new Weights & Measures requirements that will not allow the robot to continue operation once a Low Coin is detected.  You need to adjust the photo-sensor upwards so that the hammer solenoids plastic mounting does not interfere with the light beam of the Low Coin photo-sensor.  Instructions provided of course.

Preventive Maintenance Recommendations

Preventive Maintenance (PM) is a critical factor in keeping any system operating within its designed parameters and at peak efficiency, with minimal service calls. Below are the recommended PM activities and frequency for all FTXS released products.  This list is broken down to the Device Level, so any system that is comprised of multiple devices (as most retail systems are)
can be accommodated. For any such system, all the appropriate devices must be included/considered during any Service Call or PM activity. Refer to the specific Service and Maintenance Manuals for details of performing the specific outlined tasks.

TeamPoS Display Blanking

If a display is connected to the TeamPoS 3000XL or XL2 terminal and it is removed while the terminal is powered down and back up, the driver assumes that a laptop monitor is installed because it doesn’t see an analog or digital monitor.  Once the display is connected again (either analog or digital) it will show the POST and the Windows splash screen, but the display goes
blank after the splash screen.

U-Scan Genesis Gas Shock Locking

Their have been reports that the Genesis Top Door Gas Shock does not lock, The door can be closed without the lock engaging.  Of course you don't want that.  Here's what to do.

U-Scan UPS Information and Troubleshooting

Technicians can mistakenly believe that UPS units in U-Scan systems have failed when they really haven't.  This bulletin provides some general information on the UPS and AC wiring, as well as some specific troubleshooting guidelines.

Magellan 8200 Field Issues — StoreNext Dealer Assistance Program

This update regarding the recent Magellan 8200’s field issues and response has been provided by Datalogic to help StoreNext dealers manage their installed base and any required repairs.  We have been told by dealers working with this StoreNext Assistance Program that Datalogic has been very responsive, and we encourage all StoreNext dealers to read Datalogic’s memo and use the program that is being offered.

Improved Connected Payments Agreement

A Product Description has been added, and StoreNext now warrants PCI compliance in Section 8.  The Services Summary has been enhanced by pointing out that the setup charge is one-time, not $150 per week.  There are no other changes to the Agreement of Forms.  Please use the updated versions from the Connected Payments All-In-One Page.

New Powered USB Cables for Fujitsu TeamPoS

A change was made to the production process and materials to improve the reliability of the Powered USB cables used between the TeamPoS controller and various peripherals. In order to clearly delineate these cable changes, new part numbers have been assigned.

U-Scan MicroCoin Coin Acceptor Programming

During the investigation of several recent reports of coin ‘Cross-Over’ and excessive coin reject rates, it has been found that some of the MicroCoin Coin Acceptors have been programmed or altered in the field.

Genesis USB Hub Bracket Mount Changes

There have been some reports that on the Genesis USB HUB, the cable connectors that plug into it are getting stressed due to not enough room between the bracket and the brace. TeamPoS 3000 XL Cash Drawer Cable

The TeamPoS 3000 XL terminal has had some reported cases where the cash drawer cable was coming loose from the back of the terminal resulting in a service call. Some of the earlier controllers had a metal shield around the connector that was slightly off center preventing the cash drawer cable from being fully inserted.  Here's how to deal with it.

What's New in ScanMaster 2.5.2

Improved Connected Payments Agreement

ScanMaster and U-Scan Scaletron DLL — Operating Online

Earlier U-Scan systems used two separate scale controllers — one controller for each of the scale platforms. Newer NextGen U-Scans use a single controller for both of the scale platforms.  Because with a single controller the software needs to understand that it is in single-unit mode, some people have had difficulty getting the Scaletron.dll to operate ONLINE on a NextGen U-Scan Scan & Bag (only the Toledo.dll allows the bagging scale to operate ONLINE).  You'll find the secret to success (hint: REGEDIT again) on the Software Technical Bulletins Page.

Shoppers: Big Jump in Demand for Self-Service

A recent study by BuzzBack Market Research (commissioned by NCR) revealed that "86 percent of U.S. and Canadian consumers say they are more likely to do business with a company that offers the flexibility to interact using self-service ... Genesis Top Cover and Lower Door Rubber Cushions

There have been reports that the Genesis Top Cover and Lower Door rubber cushions can be loose or missing.  If these cushions are missing it can cause the Top Cover and Lower Door to become misaligned.  This can cause various issues ranging from door alignment, alignment issues with various internal devices, to customer esthetics.  Fixing this?  On the Hardware Bulletins Page.  (Note - the pictures show only a left robot - think in mirror-image mode if you are working with a RH robot.)

Hypercom L4150 Released

Here's the official pricing and some new programs around the Hypercom payment terminals.  Most important, we can now key-inject all your terminals, and there's a new "Advanced Exchange" program for spare-in-the-air with pre-injected replacements.  Note that the L4150 requires OpenEPS 825, which is now released for Connected Payments and available to all under Customer Trial for the full in-store WinEPS.  See the Marketing Bulletins Page.

StoreNext Marketing Co-op

The StoreNext Marketing Co-op program pays for your many of your marketing collateral and show expenses when you are branding these activities with the StoreNext name and the StoreNext product names.  Remember, most expenses are now paid 100%, so stop wasting time and spend something.  The policy document spells out what counts, but if you're unclear or want to try something unusual, please call Tony in advance.  The CCAF has been updated for the 2008 program, and provided to you in a Word "forms" doc plus a PDF, whichever one is easier for you.  It's available along with the Co-op Policy, on the Marketing Co-op Page.

Updated Connected Payments Agreement

Converting the Bill Dispenser from DeLaRue to the F53

To take advantage of newer technology and higher reliability, some customers have requested to upgrade their U-Scan NextGen 1.0 system from a DeLaRue to an F53 bill-dispensing unit. An adapter kit is required to retrofit the F53 BDU to the NextGen 1.0 with front door dispensing. New POS eXchange

Advisory: POS eXchange 7.1 for Retalix Store/HQ has been released for General Availability. This release is for all supported POS types. Of specific interest, this release supports FSA/IIAS for ScanMaster 2.5.x.

New ScanMaster Utility - Make Your Historical Data PCI-Compliant

ScanMaster has met PCI compliance for several years.  For obvious reasons, installing the compliant versions does not go back and erase all of ScanMaster's data history files, however.  This utility will go back and search through those old files and find any full card numbers and truncate those numbers to eliminate PCI concerns with old data that may still exist in even an updated system.

WinEPS/OpenEPS 824 Release Notes and User Reference

These release notes from MTXEPS tell you all the new features in the new 824 SP1.  This is a big, big release, with dozens of new features and capabilities, across many processors and PIN pads.  This release is currently in the certification process with ScanMaster and ISS45, and there may be an SP2 coming - however, these Release Notes can tell you what's coming.  In addition, we've posted the MTXEPS User Reference for 824 (it's sixteen meg, so don't ask unless you mean it) with all the opertional details.  You'll find them on the WinEPS Manuals Page.

Connected Payments - New Release and Capabilities

Connected Payments 2.6 is now up and running for the users, providing several new features.  FSA is supported with 5/3 and Paymentech.  Version 2.6 now enables chains to set up authorizations controlling which stores or store groups will be visible to managers.  There are many new features and fields available on the transaction search facility, a new report for pre-auth transactions and completions, enhancements to configuration management including an improved GUI and many more enhancements.  See the Release Notes guide, available from the Connected Payments All-In-One Page or the WinEPS Page.

User Reference Guide for Connected Payments 2.6

U-Scan - Order Times Out and Voids Prior to First Item

When a U-Scan shopper touches the ‘START’ button to begin an order — but then waits longer then 10 seconds to scan or enter the first item, the U-Scan system can time out and void the transaction.  You can either tell the customers to hurry up, or make this little change that Speros Voss wrote up for you in this Software Technical Bulletin.  You'll find it on the Software Technical Bulletins Page.

New Connected Payments Agreement

The Connected Payments Subscription Agreement package has been updated to include the new options and information regarding Site Information.  A new checklist is also packaged with it.  It's on the Connected Payments All-In-One Page.

U-Scan Genesis Bill Acceptor Hinge and Lanyard

There have been some reports of the Bill Acceptor hinge bracket breaking when excessive downward force is applied. This issue applies to older versions of the Genesis robot with the backload Bill Acceptor bracket which does not have the top plunger latch and/or lanyard restraint.
