Accelerated FSA Availability

The recent FSA Update has itself been updated with the closer-in dates and releases for the FSA capabilities on ISS45 V7, V8 and ScanMaster V2.  The changes are highlighted in red toward the end of the document.

Accelerated Customer Trials

To make it faster to get Customer Trial software - especially for FSA - here's the customer trial form you can fill out on your PC, sign, and FAX in.  In the future, you can always get this form from the Software Support Menu Page. 

New D22/D25 Stacked Stand Kit for TeamPoS 2000

This hardware bulletin provides information about a new stand kit that enables a D22 or D25 display to be stacked with a TeamPoS 2000 Terminal.  StoreNext will publish PINs and prices for this kit.

ISS45 Version 7.1.2.1 Final Release Table

The 7.1.2.1 release is in publication and will be able to ship to Customer Trial sites next week.  This release brings together the new FSA compliance implemented with WinEPS, Texas WIC/EBT, improved Decline Templates and lots of other features and fixes.  Meanwhile, see the details how all these things work in the Release Notes - available right now.

ScanMaster 250-050, including FSA, has its final update with many additional fixes and features beyond the original commitment.  It will be ready to ship to Customer Trial during the week of December 17.  The release table for the follow-on 2.5.1 release in February is now posted.  See the ScanMaster Releases Page.

New TeamPoS 3000 Setup Guides for ISS45

These updated setup guides add setup sections to help you install the Hypercom L4250 and L4100 USB.  The XE guide also tells you how to install the Radeon 7000 second video card, while the XL guide tells you about installing dual cash drawers.  On the Hardware Manuals Page, and also on the ISS45 Manuals Page.  We don't care very much which page you get it from, but for the sake of your long-term health, this is not a good place to improvise.  Just so you get it from SOMEWHERE.

U-Scan

The U-Scan 44 release package installs a new/different version of the dealer configuration program - this newer utility requires an update to the Microsoft .NET framework with the older Ciara PC images in the installed base of U-Scan.  Get the patch now.

FACT Act - Removing the Expiration Date from ISS45 Templates

New ISS45 SKIFs

The ISS45 SKIF has been updated with the V7 IP CCTV Video Interface. 

U-Scan SBU Sensor Array Control Box Connector

On a small number of production units, a wrong P2 retainer tab was used.  The problem is that this part is supposed to mate with the controller circuit board which cannot accommodate the wrong retainer so it was bent back in order to be installed. The plastic tab eventually tries to return to its original shape and pushes the connector away from the board making the connection intermittent.  Chaos ensues.

White's Foodliner Connected Payments Case Study

ISS45 8.1.2.1-050 - Generally Released

This major release has now completed several customer trials.  The list of new features is highlighted by the full integration of the Texas-New Mexico Smart Card WIC option, delayed gift-card recharge, Fuel manual entry and zip code authorization, and dual cash drawer operation with the TeamPoS 3000.  Not quite as many fixes are in this release - they're running out of problems to address.  See the updated Release Table.  The release has been FedExed to all ISS45 dealers in good standing.

TeamPoS 3000 Express Configurations and Pricing

ISS45 and ScanMaster Express configurations are now available - the new TeamPoS 3000 XE has enabled reduced prices on "Core" configurations, and additional configurations using the XL 1.3 and 1.5 M terminals are available too.  ScanMaster configurations now have the Pervasive Database included too at no additional cost - so that's even more savings.  All former TeamPoS 2000-based Express configurations are withdrawn and will not ship after the end of this month.

Maintaining the Batteries in TeamPoS 2000 and 3000

Batteries don't last forever - the recommended replacement cycle is three years.  If the battery expires, power failures will shut down the terminal immediately, and old batteries can leak and really mess up the inside of the terminal.  See the technical bulletin for the part numbers and process.

New TeamPoS 2000 Hard Drive - Update

This updated hardware technical bulletin describes the new Hard Disk Drive components used in the TeamPoS 2000 Terminal.  The HDD is moving from the old 3.5" IDE to a 2.5" laptop-style drive.

Upgrading to F53 Bill Dispenser - Tech Bulletin Updated

This U-Scan Technical Bulletin explained how to update your G&D (or was that just (G.D.) bill dispenser to the F53.  It's been updated with how to align the bill chute to the bill tray.  Available from the U-Scan Technical Bulletins and the Hardware Technical Bulletins Pages.

And Now That You've Upgraded the Bill Dispenser

When cash comes down the bill chute of a U-Scan LT unit, it can be a little slippery and spill out onto the floor or scale (in other words, the customer got weigh to much change).  This technical bulletin rides to the rescue describing a little kit to address the issue, consisting of something less slippery for the bill chute surface and (all together now) a bottle of Loctite (this time, it's number 410 for you Loctite collectors).  You can get the kit now, or you can just read about it on this bulletin - available from the U-Scan Technical Bulletins and the Hardware Technical Bulletins Pages.

Epson Printer Rebates for StoreNext Dealers

StoreNext dealers can now get a $65 rebate on all Epson 6000-III printers and $25 on Epson single-station printers they buy from StoreNext.  This is even retroactive to July 1, so see the Update Bulletin!

TeamPoS 3000 XE - Updated Product Reference Bulletin

The Reference Bulletin for the TeamPoS 3000 XE has been updated to provide more detail on the port and peripheral options and configurations.  The fact that the XE (either P-USB or Combo/Legacy versions) supports only the P-USB 92U keyboard - not the 92R or 92M - has been highlighted.  The XE provides support for the new VF60U 2x20 display, but not earlier serial versions of the Fujitsu 2x20 shopper displays.

TeamPoS 3000 Espresso Configurations and Pricing

The ScanMaster and ISS45 Espresso configurations are now available - many prices are reduced even with the superior hardware and capability.  "Core" Espresso configurations (you decide on all the peripherals) are available as well as the "Mocha" (complete system with Magellan, Touch and MICR) and "Low-Fat Mocha" (lowest-cost including all but the scanner/scale) cover the most popular small-store needs.  The Espresso configurations are still on the books - but only through September, so upgrade your planning to the TeamPoS 3000 now.

Installing and Upgrading Pervasive 9.5 - Avoiding Lockups

If you're using Pervasive 9.5 for the new ScanMaster V2 releases, make sure you see this updated technical bulletin which explains the process.  Also, when upgrading from Pervasive 8.6, you have to remove just about every trace of evidence that 8.6 was there or you'll have troubles with 9.5.  So follow the five-step process for the upgrade provided in this Technical Bulletin.

New TeamPoS 2000 “M” Digital Video Chip

FACT-Compliant Receipts

Besides complying with PCI requirements for handling card data, retailers must also comply with the U.S. the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 (the “FACT Act”). This law prohibits a card-holder’s expiration date or full card number from being printed on the receipt.  There have been recent high-profile lawsuits where major retailers were sued by shoppers for printing their card data on receipts in violation of the FACT Act.

     While many merchants prefer the masked date to appear on the receipt for lookup and verification purposes, StoreNext believes that the recent lawsuits will likely change opinion to take the most conservative approach possible, and therefore future releases of ISS45 will be provided with the new default templates that omit even the masked date.

     The current default ISS45 templates mask the card’s expiration date by printing 00/YY where “YY” is the last two characters of the year.  While it is hard to imagine this being correctly interpreted as a true “date” (after all, there is no month called “00”) some grocers may be subject to frivolous copycat lawsuits from impatient shoppers who still have not yet won the lottery jackpot.  This Technical Bulletin provides the templates and processes to remove the masked receipt date with ISS45 V7 and V8.

This new utility does an automated one-step collection of all the critical trouble-shooting log files from an ISS45 MFS, LFS or POST, and it works with either V8 or V7.  It even wraps them all up in a single Zip file that you can e-mail off to StoreNext Technical Support if necessary.  Speros Voss has written a new Technical Bulletin explaining how to work it and what it does, and you can get the utility from the Software Support Menu (click the Tools and Utilities Page from there.

Remember the good old days when a PC was a PC was a PC?  Not anymore.  The new generation of Acer PCs and Mid-Towers is out - these are the 5900/6900 models.  It's a good thing that Larry Lack was in one of his write-it-all-down moods, because now you have a complete recipe for setting up these new Acers with ISS45 and SQL workgroup.  Nice little manual.  It's on the Hardware Manuals Page - and also on the Software Technical Bulletins Page and the Hardware Technical Bulletins Page.  Hard to figure where to put things like this - so we put it everywhere.

ISS45 Education and Training Courses Coming Up

StoreNext continues to use the Wholesaler PINs on each order - this data helps us negotiate for wholesaler resources when they understand the importance of the dealers' installed base of ISS45 and ScanMaster in their operational areas.  This updated copy adds Petrey Wholesale.

New U-Scan Option for Single-Belt Collection Tray

This new option provides rollers that serve to spread the products out over the collection area when they come off the belt.  It can be retrofitted to U-Scan SBUs already installed or specified with new SBU orders.  On the U-Scan Hardware Bulletins Page.

New U-Scan Brochure

Well, slightly modified anyway.  Ever-vigilant Larry Schmitz noticed a dimensioning error on the U-Scan6/Carousel information sheet, and this mistake has been eradicated (along with about 90% of the previously enormous file size - now down to a much more downloadable dimension).

StoreNext Font Set Updated

StoreNext electronic brochures, PowerPoint presentations, information sheets, bulletins and so forth use a standardized set of fonts.  These should be on your PC so that Windows will not substitute fonts (the documents will not look right or be hard to read) and to enable you to modify presentations without font licensing issues.  Go to the Fonts Page to download a zip file with the fonts.  Links are also available at the top of many of the site's pages.

U-Scan Presentation Updated

The U-Scan Overview Presentation has been updated to remove embedded font restrictions which can make it difficult to open and modify depending on your version of Windows and your current font list.  We recommend your PCs have the StoreNext Font Set to minimize any such problems with compatibility.

ISS45 8.1.2.0-050 - Generally Released

This major release has now completed several customer trial with about ten new features, and it also cleans up over 75 faults.  See the updated Release Table.  The release has been FedExed to all ISS45 dealers in good standing.

WinEPS 820 through Customer Trial and Released

One of the most important features is the new interface option for ISS45 8.1.2.0 and 7.1.2.0 or ScanMaster 2.4.1 that walls off all bank card data from POS, essentially making PCI compliance for ISS45 and ScanMaster new releases a moot point.  This WinEPS release provides 25 new features and fixes a dozen faults.  The 820 CDs have been shipped to all WinEPS dealers in good standing.

Solidcore New Capabilities and Integration Batch

StoreNext Solidcore has been enhanced to handle additional applications as well as correcting an ISS45 LFS installation and supporting the new Acer desktops and mid-towers. 

New U-Scan Features for ISS45 and ScanMaster

The new U-Scan "bundle" for ISS45 and ScanMaster is now through customer trial and is available for download and installation.  New features include bagging and security options to speed up checkout with fewer interventions, plus TPG A794 support and several fixes.  CDs have been FedExed to all U-Scan certified dealers in good standing.

There are quite a few useful new functions and features in this release for ScanMaster V1 users.  See the release table - the update should be released in the next week or ten days.

Sobara's U-Scan ScanMaster Rollout - Press Release

Sorbara’s Shop n’ Save, an independent grocery chain with five stores in the Pittsburgh area, has deployed U-Scan and ScanMaster systems from StoreNext.  The rollout project, which began in November 2006, was completed within six weeks.  “Having a combination of bagged and belted self-checkouts made perfect sense for us,” said Jim Sorbara.

Solidcore + Anti-Virus?

Several dealers have recently asked us to clarify when — if you’re using Solidcore — it’s useful to have anti-virus software also running on the same machine.  We went back to Solidcore’s Technical gurus for the official corporate position and the reasons why.  The short answer is that there is one specific situation where A-V can help, but not unless there are three specific conditions at work.  See this Bulletin and know the answers.

PSC - Datalogic Merger and Organization

Datalogic purchased of PSC in November 2005, and is now completing the subsequent reorganization.  This is designed to consolidate the product offerings and represent them consistently within divisions while retaining the traditional PSC product branding ("Magellan" etc.) and high quality.  This update provides the latest (and also attaches earlier communications for your reference) from Datalogic's CEO regarding the new organization and objectives.  On the Updates Page.

MSR Driver Update for D22/D25 Displays

Fujitsu D22 and D25 Installation and Maintenance Manuals

The Installation and Maintenance information for the new Fujitsu D22 and D25 displays is included in the Installation and Maintenance manuals for the TeamPoS 3000.  These are posted for you on the Hardware Manuals Page.  In addition, there's a special manual regarding loading drivers for the D22/D25 display when using the MSR or Keypad/MSR (TeamKey).
